Its all NAVY BABY!!

Are you loving navy as much as I am? I am so obsessed with this beautiful, yet underrated color. Navy always reminds me of vacation time. I got my "resort life" with these two looks.

Le Tote had the same idea in mind when they sent me these two beautiful pieces. On the left I am wearing the Rhonda Pintuck Blouse. I paired this blouse with tailored cream slacks from H&M. Seriously, get your white pants from H&M. I decided to offset these neutrals with this mustard sweater from Forever 21.

On the right I am wearing another Le Tote piece (I LOVE LE TOTE). This beautiful dress is by BB Dakota (its the Tallis Dress). I love this figure hugging, body con dress. I paired this with my navy striped Tommy Hilfiger ballet  flat and easter bunny purse (SUPER CUTE).

Navy is definitely a shade that will be popping this season. Add this color to your wardrobe. Get your vacay life on.

Long time no see

Wow, I certainly have been gone for quite sometime. well life has a way of doing just that. But I am back. I have left a very notable and well constructed blog for over a year! 2011 has certainly been a year of struggle for me. a year of maturity, disappointments and life lessons. a day after christmas and I am refelecting on the fact that I am so broke I can't even afford to purchase my boyfriend a card (and neither can he). But I am also reminded of the true meaning of christmas.I vow to myself that 2012 will be different. I know its really cliche' but its the truth. I vow to buckle down, stop chasing my dreams and start making them realities and focus on being more positive. I owe it to myself and my boyfriend. I appreciate those who have continued to stick with me. I promise to re construct this blog and my youtube channel (TheLadyClassique). I have been writing down ideas on what to present and it will be great.

I ♥ Brouges

Oh how I love brouges,,,let me count the ways....Brouges/Oxfords are hitting the world by storm. And not only are men wearing these fantastic shoes,,but so are women. Stores like H&M, Forever 21, DSW, Steve Madden, Top Shop, Primark and many others sell modernized versions of these shoes. And if you don't have some,,,,time to purchase them now!

And this shoe comes in many different styles. From boots to flats, so the styles are endless. You can pair a nice dress and stockings with Brouge pumps for a night on the town. Or you can go for the androgynous look with a tailored jacket and pants paired with brouge flats.

My absolute fave look with Brouges is something I like to call Militant Granny. Militant Granny is a mix of grunge, preppy and a hint of military. I like to achieve this look with Brouge Boots. They come with a chunky heel and straps which can give you a really strong yet sleek look.

Whether you decide to take the simple approach a pair these with leggings and a crop shirt, maybe tights and a dress or even a tux with the pants legs cuffed,,,the options are endless. Oh and did I mention how comfortable they are? These shoes only take about 2 days to break in.

A little history on Brouges/ Oxford shoes. Modern brogues trace their roots to a rudimentary shoe originating in Scotland and Ireland that was constructed using untanned leather with perforations that allowed water to drain from the shoes when the wearer crossed wet terrain such as a bog. The word "brogues" originates in the late sixteenth century and is a derivation of the Irish and Scots Gaelic "brōg", taken from the Old Norse "brók" meaning "leg covering".
The word "brogue" was first used to describe a form of outdoor, country walking shoe in the early twentieth century. At that time the brogue was not considered to be appropriate for other occasions, social or business. However now an individual may wear brouges for just about any occasion. Now they materials includes leather, jean, canvas and many other materials and designs.

So get you a pair of brouges (or Oxfords as they are commonly called) and let me know what you think.

Maniladas with White Cheese and Tomatillo Sauces

I absolutley love the food network channel! it gives me great ideas on things to prepare for my family that are delicious and different from the ordinary. If anyone knows me they know that I am a foodie. I LOVE FOOD. So when I saw this recipe, I knew I had to try it out. I will do a review and post pictures of the as soon as I prepare it.
 Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) package manicotti shells
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 Vidalia onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 rotisserie chicken, shredded
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • 3 tablespoons chopped cilantro leaves
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

For the Tomatillo sauce:

  • 1 pound tomatillos, quartered
  • 1 small red onion, quartered
  • 1 jalapeno, halved
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

For the cheese sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups heavy cream, room temperature
  • 2 cups grated fontina cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • Salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Boil manicotti in salted water for 8 minutes. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water and set pasta aside.
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Saute onion until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and saute 1 minute more. Remove pan from heat and mix in chicken, tomatoes, cilantro and sour cream. Set aside.

To make the Tomatillo Sauce:

Place tomatillos, onion, jalapeno and garlic in a baking dish. Toss with oil and season with salt and pepper. Roast until tomatillos turn golden around the edges and are soft, about 45 minutes. Remove from oven and blend ingredients together until smooth. Use reserved pasta water to thin sauce, if necessary. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
To make the cheese sauce: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add flour and cook 2 minutes. Whisk in heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Add cheese and nutmeg and stir until melted. Season sauce with salt, to taste.
To assemble: Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F. Stuff manicotti tubes with chicken mixture and assemble in a 9 by 12-inch baking dish. Pour cheese sauce over the top. Bake 30 minutes until cheese is bubbling. Drizzle tomatillo sauce on Maniladas before serving.

Master Cleanse Diet Day #1 (I missed u guys)

Hey Classi Dahls!!! I know I have been gone for a while, but I was just getting a few things in order. As you know, I am still on unemployment, in my quest to find another job (my faith is very strong). But I am back,,,now on to the MASTER CLEANSE DIET.

Also known as The Lemonade Diet or The Beyonce Diet,, this diet is known to knock off alot of weight in a short amount of time. A friend just started this diet, so I decided that I am going to give it a try and document my success here on my blog.. The recipe is:
  • Pure Filtered Water
  • Grade B Organic Maple Syrup, Formaldehyde free
  • Organic Cayenne Pepper
  • Organic Lemons
  • Sea salt - Unrefined, (Not iodized) or Epsom Salt
Optional Ingredients:
  • Laxative tea
  • Natural Herbal Tea (decaffeinated)
#1 (single serving):
  • 2 Tablespoons of organic lemon Juice (about 1/2 a Lemon)
  • 2 Tablespoons of Organic grade B maple syrup (not the commercial maple flavored syrup you use on pancakes)
  • 1/10 Teaspoon Cayenne pepper powder
  • Ten ounces of filtered water
#2 (60 oz. daily serving):
  • 60 ounces of filtered water
  • 12 Tablespoons of organic grade B maple syrup
  • 12 Tablespoons of organic lemon juice
  • 1/2 Teaspoon cayenne pepper powder
Others are trying to substitute these ingredients, but I won't. For something to work you shouldn't stray what is needed. Three key things to keep in mind are:

  • Use organic ingredients The goal of the Master Cleanse is to remove toxic substances from your body so stay away from ingredients that have been sprayed with pesticides
  • Don't use concentrated lemon juice If you have to you can use non-organic lemons, but you cannot use concentrated lemon juice because It's filled with sugar and preservatives.
  • Make sure the sea salt is Unrefined or Not iodized This will be used as a laxative
I am not sure what to use for a substitute if salt is a problem but their are many websites such as, http://mastercleansesecrets.com/ . Right now I am 190 lbs, the BIGGEST I HAVE EVER BEEN. I hate this weight and I am starting to feel the effects. So today I will began by doing more research and buying the ingredients. I won't eat at all today, except for may be fruits and veggies. This is will last for 30 days (aww my stomach is already growling. Thanks Kuzar Wallace for this idea.
